FAQS
CAN YOU CHANGE UP YOUR HAIRSTYLE WITH A HAIR SYSTEM?
Certainly! You can treat your hair system in many ways just like you would your own hair; giving you the option to change your look every visit!
IS THE HAIRLINE REALLY UNDETECTABLE WHEN USING A HAIR SYSTEM?
If you decide to go with a haircut with a detectable hairline (such as a pompadour), our ultra thin poly skin based hair systems consist of colorless, transparent material that disappears against your skin tone, making your hairline virtually undetectable. However, due to its longer lifespan and natural look, our thin skin system is a popular choice for many of our clients. A thicker poly system is recommended for hair styles where the hairline is hidden such as bangs. We also offer lace, hybrid and mono systems that are longer lasting options.
HOW LONG DOES A HAIR SYSTEM LAST?
Longevity depends on the type of hair system. Our poly skin systems last anywhere between 2-5 months on average before needing to be replaced and our lace-base systems last anywhere from 4-8 months on average. Each type of system will require routine maintenance (also known as reapplication) roughly every 2-4 weeks: depending on activity level, climate and skin type. Choosing the right system depends on the client's needs and preferences.
WHAT ARE HAIR SYSTEMS?
Some people might call a Hair System a "hair piece." But, a hair piece can be a one-size-fits-all off-the-shelf thing which may not look very realistic. A hair system is highly customized and varies greatly depending on the hair type, color and base material used.
DO OUR SYSTEMS USE REAL HUMAN HAIR ?
Yes, all of our hair systems are made with 100% human hair; with the exception of gray hair. Grey hair is made from a combination of synthetic and yak hair because it stays grey forever.
CAN I PERFORM PHYSICAL ACTIVITIES WITH MY HAIR SYSTEM?
Yes! Each strand of hair is individually knotted or injected into the base. This permits the strength necessary for hair to undergo physical activities, such as swimming, biking, playing sports, etc.
Caring For Your Hair System At Home
Following an installation or maintenance-related appointment, we recommend waiting 24 hours before washing your hair or resuming any activity that will cause you to sweat.
For the first 24 hours we ask you to avoid:
Gyms
Swimming
Saunas/steam rooms
Heavy rain
After 24 hours your system is ready to go! You can resume normal activity and enjoy your new hair.
Washing Your Hair System
If you’d like to wash your hair system we recommend doing so no more than one or two times weekly. However, washing your hair that frequently is not required. Minimimal hair washing helps maintain the adhesive bond, helping it last longer without needing touch ups. The less you wash your hair system, the longer it is likely to last. When washing the system, we recommend using lukewarm water. Use a stroking motion in one direction (ideally in the direction your hair goes). Avoid scrubbing as this can cause tangling. Use sulfate-free, hydrating and deeply moisturizing shampoo or any water-based, hydrating shampoo works.
After washing, use a detangling spray to get rid of any remaining knots in your hair. The hair system will not retain natural oils from the scalp. Therefore it is important to put this back into the hair using an oil product approved by us. Our hair replacement specialist will recommend a good shampoo, detangling spray and oil for you.
Moisturizing your hair is important when wearing hair systems to prevent it from drying out. Watch this four minute video tutorial to learn how to do so at home.
